SOUND CHECK

The final connections have been made on our new Cobra Line Array speaker system by Dynacord from Carey Sound. Mr. Carey came in this morning before our big Technical Rehearsal in order to calibrate the system.

The speaker array fans out so that every seat, even in the balcony, gets superb sound quality. Ken Carey cranked up the volume to "10" on a number of classic rock tunes and if you closed your eyes, it seemed like the bands were playing here live in concert! The speakers made the bones in your chest rattle, yet there was absolutely no distortion!

Our new digital equalizer is part of the improved system. We will be able to balance all our wireless body mikes and make feedback a thing of the past!

Ken analized audio data to tweek the output of the speakers to perfection. The comparison between this new system and our old speakers is like night and day.

He played "white noise" and a series of songs and vocal recordings through the speakers while checking the acustics from various points around the auditorium. During one solo by a female vocalist, the sound in the balcony was so crisp that it seemed as though you could close your eyes and reach out and touch her on the cheek! Audiences should be impressed on opening night of The King and I.
